Description
Become a Street Librarian: Build a Book Nook for Your Street! 📚✨
Own your very own custom-built Street Library—a beautiful, handcrafted little free library designed to foster community connection through the joy of book sharing and discovery. These libraries bring neighbours together and inspire curiosity in children, offering books that spark imagination and a lifelong love of learning.
🌱 Sustainably Built
We proudly use recycled timber for every Street Library. Depending on stock, this may include:
- Pine
- Hardwood
- Exterior plywood
- Pallet wood
- Floorboards
No matter the combination, we never compromise on structure, strength or quality.
☔ Weatherproof Design
Your Library is built to protect your books from the elements, year-round:
- Extended roof eave (front and back)
- Protective awning above the door
- Door designed wider than the opening for overlap protection
- Glued, screwed, and silicone-sealed joints
- Three coats of exterior paint + two coats of polyurethane
- Corner trims to prevent water damage
- Vent behind the pediment for airflow
🎨 Customisation Process
Your Library is made just for you. Personalise it with the following options:
- Primary colour
- Door colour (gable and trims are typically white)
- Hand-painted mural (optional additional $200): Lemon🍋, Cherries🍒, Blueberries🫐

💬 A Note From the Maker
“I’ve always adored the concept of Little Libraries—they build connection and keep the spirit of discovery alive. As a woodworker, it’s been a joy to bring that idea to life. Each library is lovingly handcrafted in my small workshop in Western Melbourne, custom-made to suit your vision and your street. I look forward to creating something truly special with you.”
